What Are Goals?
Goals define what success looks like for your experiments. When a user completes a goal action (like making a purchase or signing up), EarlyCRO records a conversion for the variant they saw.
Types of Goals
Page Visit Goals
Trigger when a user visits a specific URL.
// Examples of URL matching: Exact: /thank-you Contains: /checkout/ Regex: ^/order/[0-9]+/confirm$
Click Goals
Trigger when a user clicks a specific element.
// Target elements with CSS selectors: #signup-button .cta-primary button[data-action="buy"]
Form Submit Goals
Trigger when a user submits a specific form.
Custom Event Goals
Trigger from your own JavaScript code.
// Track custom events
CRO.track('purchase', {
value: 99.99,
currency: 'USD'
});
CRO.track('signup_complete');
CRO.track('video_watched', { duration: 120 });Revenue Goals
Track monetary value per conversion for e-commerce.
// Track revenue
CRO.track('purchase', {
value: 149.99,
currency: 'USD',
order_id: 'ORD-12345'
});Primary vs Secondary Goals
Primary Goal
- One per experiment
- Used to determine the winner
- Should be your main conversion metric
- Affects statistical significance calculation
Secondary Goals
- Unlimited per experiment
- For directional insights only
- Track related metrics
- Don't affect winner determination
Example: For an e-commerce test, your primary goal might be "Purchase completed" while secondary goals track "Add to cart", "Viewed product details", and "Average order value".

- Choose your goal type (Page Visit, Click, Form Submit, Custom Event)
